Urban Edge, Furniture E-commerce App
Urban Edge is a concept for a modern and minimalistic furniture e-commerce app designed to offer a seamless shopping experience for users looking for contemporary home furnishings. The app’s design focuses on simplicity, clean visuals, and intuitive navigation, providing users with an effortless way to browse, customize, and purchase furniture.
This project allowed me to explore the entire UX/UI design process—from user research and empathy mapping to user flow creation and interface design. My goal was to create an app that is visually appealing and easy to use, while offering standard e-commerce features found in similar apps.
Designing for a Modern User Experience
The primary objective for Urban Edge was to create a minimalistic and modern interface that resonates with users who appreciate sleek, contemporary designs. I wanted the app to feel uncluttered while still offering all the essential features expected in an e-commerce platform, such as product browsing, detailed item views, and a streamlined checkout process.
One of the challenges was ensuring that the app’s simplicity did not sacrifice functionality. I needed to ensure that all features were easy to access without overwhelming the user with unnecessary elements. This was especially important given the lack of “extra” features, as the focus was on making the core e-commerce experience as smooth as possible.
Persona Development and User-Centered Design
To ensure Urban Edge met user needs, I created two personas to represent different user types and guide the design. One persona, Bruce Daniels, was explored further through a user empathy map, which helped me understand his frustrations, such as complex checkouts or unclear product details. This process enabled me to focus on simplifying navigation and optimizing the shopping journey for a more seamless, user-friendly experience.
